Employment

The Group combines technical excellence and commercial understanding with an ability to form long term productive relationships with clients. Members of the highly regarded Employment Group advise employers and senior employees in a variety of employment related disputes.

We are skilled at dealing with complex issues before they become litigious. However where resolution cannot be reached at an early stage we have substantial experience of presenting cases, normally without Counsel, at Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

While all members of the Group advise across the full range of employment issues, each has specialist experience and knowledge of particular business sectors.

Our specialist team of 14 employment lawyers provide advice and representation on a range of human resources and management issues including:

  • Employment policies and procedures
  • Terms and conditions of employment
  • Service contracts
  • Redundancies
  • TUPE and contractual employment issues and related reorganizations
  • Collective industrial relations disputes
  • Agreed terminations, including drafting compromise agreements
  • Pensions, including part time pension claims
  • Senior board level disputes
  • Grievances against Chief Executive
  • Senior Management
  • Disciplinary/grievance procedures
  • Unfair dismissal
  • Race, sex, and disability discrimination, particularly in multi-respondent cases
  • Breach of contract
  • Whistle-blowing claims
  • Equal pay claims (in both private and statutory sectors)
  • Working Time Regulations and unlawful deductions
  • Tailored in-house training for HR Officers
  • Regular seminars/workshops

The 2008 edition of Chambers and Partners ranked the Firm as top in the region for the second year running and cited the group's "professional attitude, impressive communication skills and high response levels."
